Private Roy Lee Pittman, son of Mr. and Mrs. David Pittman, was born at Halstead, Kansas, February 25, 1897. He grew to manhood near Newton on farms operated by his father.
He entered the service August 30, 1918, and was assigned to Ambulance Corps 30, and was in training at Fort Bliss, Texas, when he contracted pneumonia, and died at the base hospital at Fort Bliss on October 14, 1918.
