Private Elmer McConnell was born at Washington, Iowa, August 16, 1881. He died at Sabetha, Kansas, May 23, 1918 while on a furlough visiting relatives there.

He entered the service in the Quartermaster’s Corps in Newton in November, 1917, and was stationed at Jefferson Barracks, Missouri. Private McConnell was a college graduate, and employed in the Santa Fe district engineer’s office here for 4 years prior to his enlistment.

He was a member of the Methodist Church, and an exemplary young man. He was a member of the Methodist Church, and an exemplary young man.
