Former Natoma Resident Drowns
A former Natoma resident, Wayne Hugo Overholser, 30, lost his life by drowning at Yentruoc lake northeast of Wichita. The Harvey county coroner’s office said Overholser was only 50 feet from shore when he apparently suffered a cramp. The water was not deep where the drowning occurred. Overholser’s body was recovered a few minutes after he disappeared beneath the surface. He was the son of the late Wiliam Overholser and Mrs. Jane Giggey, a resident of Wichita. He spent his boyhood in Natoma with his parents, moving to Oregon where they made their home until 1945. Overholser was a veteran of World War II, and was employed by a Wichita firm at the time of his death. Besides the widow, Marjorie, and his mother, Mrs. Giggey, he is survived by a grandmother, Mrs. Mary Wineland of Natoma. The Salina Journal, Salina, Kansas. Sunday, September 7, 1952. Page 9.
