Newton Man Killed When Car Hits Tree
A Newton man was killed early Tuesday (March 21, 2017) in a one-vehicle accident at Fourth and Avery east of Hutchinson in which the car he was driving hit a tree. The driver was identified by his driver’s license to be Kevin D. Chambers, 36. Kevin is the son of Reno County District Judge Tim Chambers. According to Reno County Sheriff’s Deputy Keaton Berger, officers were dispatched to the scene at about 12:30 a.m. Upon arrival, they discovered it was a fatality accident. The car crossed the center line and exited the road to the left. It then struck a tree and came to rest. It was not obvious on the scene what had caused the accident. There were no marks on the road indicating a change of speed or sudden turn. Chambers was not wearing his seat belt. The accident still is under investigation. The Reno County coroner was on the scene and contacted the coroner’s office out of Sedgwick County to take control of the body pending an autopsy. The Hutchinson News, Hutchinson Kansas.
