Roberts, Dona



Dona Marlene Roberts, 66, died Monday (Oct. 5, 1998) at Hutchinson Hospital.

She was born Aug. 8, 1932, in Skiatook, Okla., to J.L. and Ione (Nabors) McMannis. Her mother survives of Buhler. She married Richard H. Roberts Dec. 31, 1952, in Burrton. He also survives.

She was a longtime Reno County resident. She was a 1950 graduate of Burrton High School and a 1951 graduate of Salt City Business College in Hutchinson. She was a nurse for Halstead Hospital for seven years and Greensburg Hospital for two years. She most recently was assistant vice president for Haven State Bank, retiring in March of 1997.

She was a member of Bible Baptist Church in Turon where her husband most recently pastored. She was active in her Christian ministry both as a teacher and speaker.

Other survivors include: five sons, Michael G. Roberts of Salina, Pat W. Roberts of Stonebridge, Ga., Dan L. Roberts, of Burrton, Bret W. Roberts of Hutchinson and Tim S. Roberts of South Hutchinson; one daughter, Diane L. Williams of Winfield; three brothers, LaVier J. McMannis of Hutchinson, Elman C. McMannis of Canton and Don E. McMannis of Burrton; 14 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, J.L. McMannis.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Westside Baptist Church with the Rev. Roger Dunn officiating. Burial will be in Burrton Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 7 p.m. Wednesday with family having a private viewing from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Johnson and Sons Funeral Home in Hutchinson.

Memorials have been established with ALS Foundation in care of the funeral home.
