Newton Kansan, Saturday, July 15, 1933
Ferdinand LaGree, fifth son of Fabian and Vertalin LaGree, deceased, was born in Illinois, January 14, 1872 (His grave marker has different dates.) and died in his farm home one mile west of Hesston, July 11, 1933 at the age of 61 years, five months and 27 days.
He was married on June 7, 1891 to Josie Gravel. He leaves, besides his beloved wife, an adopted son Russell. There are also the following brothers and sisters living; Tom of Burrton; Matt of Moundridge; Phil and Eli of Newton, and John and James of Canton. One brother William of this city and two sisters, Mrs. Mitchell Lively and Mrs. Kegie, preceded him in death.
The funeral services were held in the First Baptist church in Newton on Thursday afternoon, July 13, at five o'clock, the Rev. and Mrs. A. E. Kurth of Hesston sang and his nephews carried their uncle to his final resting place in the Hesston cemetery.
