Egy, Orvile Dale



Birth: Dec. 8, 1914 Oregon, USA Death: Jan. 31, 1944 Both his parents passed away in 1924. After their deaths he made his home with his uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Ira Spangler near Hesston, Kansas. He graduated from Newton high school in 1934. Dale was introduced into the Armed Forces on Oct. 9, 1941 and assigned to the Infantry Replacement Training Center, Camp Roberts, California. His later training was at Fort Lewis, Washington; Fort Ord, California; and Camp Pickett, Virginia. He was with the famous Third Infantry Division. His group sailed from the East Cost sometime shortly after Oct. 15, 1942. He was with this group through North West Africa, Sicily, and in Italy until he met his death on Jan 31, 1944 on the Anzio Beachhead. He was awarded the Purple Heart Medal
