Hall, Colleen

Colleen June (Albin) Hall went home to be with Jesus on Sunday (June 20, 2010) in Newton. She was born on April 22, 1953, in WaKeeney to Donald and Arlene (Flagler) Albin.
She grew up in rural Gove County and moved to Quinter in the fifth grade. She attended Quinter schools, graduating from Quinter High School in 1971.

She married her high school sweetheart, Mark Spencer Hall, on Jan. 1, 1972, at the Quinter Church of the Brethren.
Together, they had two children, a daughter, Michelle Erin, and a son, Ryan Douglas. Her primary joy in life was being a homemaker and mother, but she also found time to be a part-time office worker at her husband's medical office. She enjoyed baking, shopping, reading and anything that helped others.

She was an active member of Grace Community Church in Newton, where she was involved in teaching the 2-year-old Sunday school class for many years, as well as leading a women's Bible study. She also had a passion for the women she met through her involvement in the church's jail ministry and enjoyed the fellowship she found in the Community Life group that met in her home.

She is survived by her husband Mark Hall of the home; daughter, Michelle Hall of Newton; son, Ryan Hall and wife Katie of Madison, Wis.; father and stepmother, Donald and Dorothy Albin of Utica; brother, Thomas Albin and wife Maryle of Hermitage, Tenn.; brother, Douglas Albin and wife Laurie of WaKeeney; and sister, Eloise Tichenor of Oskaloosa. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her mother. We will miss her terribly, but praise God that she is rejoicing and free in Him.

Public visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, with family present from 6 to 8 p.m., at Petersen Funeral Home in Newton. A private family burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Newton. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Grace Community Church in Newton, with Pastor David Reimer officiating. Memorial gifts may be made to Smile Train in care of Petersen Funeral Home.
