Dickson, Maxine (Gates)



Maxine G. Dickson passed away Sunday (June 13, 2010). Maxine was born on April 6, 1917, near Whitewater, on her family farm, the daughter of Alpha and Colista Gates. She attended school at Annely and Whitewater.

Maxine was married to C.L. Dickson in the late 1930s.
She was a member of the First Christian Church in Newton.
She retired in 1982 as a secretary at Prairie View in Newton. She was a resident of the Kansas Christian Home in Newton.

Maxine is survived by one son, Jerry Dickson of Carefree, Ariz.; three grandchildren, Randy Dickson of Lawrence, Shelly Dickson Wilsey of Maple Hill, and Sean Dickson of Tulsa, Okla.; and four great-grandchildren, Cassidy Wilsey, Ethan Wilsey, Haley Dickson and Ryan Dickson. She was preceded in death by her husband, C.L. Dickson, on Feb. 3, 2008; her parents; son, Robert Dickson; sister, Mona Gates Arthur; and brother, Floyd Gates. She will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved her.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 1 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, where the family will receive friends between 6 and 8 p.m. and from 9 a.m. until service time on Thursday.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home in Newton. Interment will be in the Greenwood Cemetery. A memorial has been established with Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, contributions may be sent to Broadway Colonial Funeral Home, 120 E. Broadway, Newton, KS 67114.
