Olson, Rose (Resley)

Rose Cecile Olson, 71, died Tuesday (June 22, 2010) at Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice in Wichita. She was born on May 4, 1939, to Myrvin and Geneva Mae (Self) Resley.

On Sept. 23, 1963, she married John Edmond “Ted” Olson Sr. in Denver. He preceded her in death in 1983. A Sedgwick resident for 10 years, she was a retired assembler for Seagate Manufacturing in Oklahoma City. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, and Quilters Guild, both of Oklahoma City, and Tall Club International.

Survivors include a son, John Edmond (Jo Ann) Olson Jr., of Dallas, Texas; a sister, Patricia M. Springer (Roger) Brooner of Sedgwick; daughter-in-law, Donna Olson; two grandchildren, Abigail “Abby” Olson and John “Jack” E. Olson III; nieces, Gwen Springer, Amanda (Dan) Bader, and Velma (Jerry) Miller; great-nephews, Scott Springer, Billy (Shannon) Springer, Carl (Amelia) Springer and Dustin Bader; great-nieces, Stephanie Miller, Ashley Miller and Kristen Bader; great-great-nieces, Hayleigh Springer and Lexi Miller; and a great-great-nephew, Ryan Springer.
She was preceded in death by a son, Marvin George Olson; brothers, Ronald Roy and Marvin Lee Resley; a nephew, Myrvin Springer; and brother-in-law, Dick Springer.

Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Kaufman Funeral Home in Halstead, with the family present from 6:30 to 8 p.m. A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at First Christian Church in Sedgwick, with the Rev. Kim Beckwith presiding. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery in Sedgwick. Memorials may be given to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice in care of Kaufman Funeral Home.
