Mary Elizabeth Regier

Mary Elizabeth Regier, 60, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and caregiver passed away Saturday (May 15, 2010).

She was born in Newton to Max Wright Regier and Malinda Rose (Lingenfielder) Regier. She attended Newton schools.
Mary did not possess any of the finer things in life. She had no college education. She was not the woman of the year, nor did she belong to any clubs. Yet she touched so many lives during her own. In her younger days, she helped take care of other less-fortunate mothers’ children. In mid life she worked for Pennington’s, taking care of mentally challenged adults. Hearing how she masterfully handled each person, and the group homes, one gets a sense of her wonderful ability. In later life, she endured hardship while still taking care of others. She has received her PhD, Crown of Life and Streets of Gold in Heaven. May we be as fortunate.

She is survived by her son, Jeremy Young; grandchildren, Gammon Young and Olivia Young; brothers, Mark (Penny) Regier, Max (Nellie) Regier and Rob (Anita) Regier; sisters, Ro (Stan) Scudder and Melissa (Tom) Keenan.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Linda Regier; father, Max Regier; and brother, Steven Regier.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Baker Funeral Home, 100 S. Cedar St., Valley Center. Graveside service will follow at 1 p.m. at Greenwood Cemetery in Newton.
