Obituary

Frank James Willems Jr., 62, of Newton, went home to meet his Savior on Saturday morning (May 15, 2010) at his home.
He was born on Feb. 12, 1948, in French Camp, Calif., the son of the Rev. Frank and Velma Reimer Willems Sr. He was raised in the Los Angeles, Sacramento and the San Jouquin Valley area.

He graduated from Cimarron High School in 1966. He then went to Tabor College, where we met his wife, Beverly. He married Beverly Ann Classen on May 24, 1968, in Newton. After finishing college, they moved to the Reedley/Dinuba area, where he served as a psyciatric aide for his 1W service. This was for four years, during which time Kris was born. They then moved to Hillsboro, where two more children, Daniel and Amanda, were born. He worked for Hillsboro industries and Reimer Motors of McPherson. In 1976, they move to 209 W. Seventh St., where Cynthia was born. After 34 years, they moved to their present home at 515 Lance Drive so they could be on one level and be free of stairs.

Frank had been project manager of industrial waste for Reddi Industries. He was a member of Koerner Heights Church of the Mennonite Brethren, where Frank sang in the church choir, taught Sunday School and was an original member of “Hearts 4 Him.” An avid golfer, Frank could be found on the golf course every weekend with his father and brother. He truly loved his children and grandchildren, and they loved him, as well.

Survivors include his wife, Beverly Ann Willems of the home; one son, Daniel Paul Willems and wife Carrie of Park City; three daughters, Kristine Ann Jeakins and husband Ken of Rapid City, S.D., Amanda Meagan Hilyard and husband Todd of El Dorado, and Cynthia Dawn Megonigle and husband Nate of Mulvane; his parents, the Rev. Frank and Velma Willems of Newton; two brothers, Joe Willems of Hillsboro and Harry Willems and wife Jan of Wichita; one sister, Sunny Christensen and husband Ken of Marion; 10 grandchildren, Chantal, Allen, Ashley, Dante, Bella, Dexter, Tyson, Abbigale, Alexis and Elliot; and one great-grandchild, Cheyanne.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Koerner Heights Church of the Mennonite Brethren in Newton. Interment will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Newton. Friends may call from 1 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the family present from 7 to 9 p.m. A memorial has been established with Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice and the Camping Ministry Fund of Koerner Heights Church.
