Mrs. Lewis Prouty died at her home six miles west of newton on Tuesday afternoon at 3 o'clock, following an attack which produced unconsciousness on Monday. Since she suffered a stroke of paralysis two years ago she has been in frail health ans a second stroke on July 24, 1928 further weakened her condition.

Mrs. Prouty is one of the pioneer women of harvey county having come to this place 57 years ago. She has resided on the farm on which she died for 52 years. A home lover, devoted mother and wife and kind hearted neighbor and friend, she will be greatly missed in the community which has known her so long.

Sylvia Blanche Pullin was born on December 3, 1853, in New Boston, Illinois, making her past 75 years of age. She was the daughter of Ellas and Susannah [Cunningham] Pullin. She grew to womanhood in the place of her birth and was married in 1871 in New Boston to Lewis Prouty. Five children were born to this union, four of whom survive. The are Mrs. Bertha White, Wichita, Mrs Vella Hodgson, Hesston, Fred and Clyde Prouty of Newton. Mrs. Lynne Winger is deceased
