Kansan-Republican Nov 26,1928. Florence Ruth Klabau was born in Newton, Kansas, on March 17, 1910, and passed away in the same city on November 22,1928, at the age of eighteen years,eight months, and five days. She was the younger daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Klabau. Her entire life was spent in the town of her birth where she endeared herself to all with her cheer, hope, optimism and thru the use of her many talents. She was a member of the 1928 graduating class of the Newton High school. Unable to graduate with the class or enter into activities, incident to the closing of high school days, she was graduated as an absentee, being confined to her bed with the affliction from which she never recovered. During nearly seven long months she was a patient sufferer, maintaining her cheer and optimism up to the very last moment, planning for the Thanksgiving and the Christmas seasons. Her school activities were many and varied into which he fully invested her talents. She played in the school orchestras for a period of six years,representing Newton in the Emporia music contest and bringing home the cup awarded for the French horn solo. She took an active part in Girl Reserve work, representing the local organization at Estes Park. She was a member of the junior Themian club, active in Sidausos of the Christian church and was a worthy example socially and religiously to the many friends who knew and loved her. She made her confession of faith in her Savior,and united with the local Christian church to which she has been faithful. She leaves to mourn her going, her father and mother and one sister Elizabeth,a number of relatives and a host of friends.
