He married January 4, 1900 in Kentucky to Amanda Rose. He was first employed as a railway mail clerk in Newton and for many years was engaged in the furniture business at Broadway and Main streets. For several years he operated the Del Monte hotel, where he resided at the time of his death. Known children a Son William Jr.
