Souder, James
The Newton Kansan
Many friends gathered at the First Presbyterian Church at three o'clock Saturday afternoon, to pay last respects to James Byron Souder, who passed away suddenly of a heart attack in Winfield, Kansas Thursday, April 6.
Mr. Souder was born in Rushville, Ind. 57 years ago, on September 21, 1886 and came to Kansas with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Souder at the age of seven years and had since made Newton his home. He was united in marriage September 2, 1912 to Ethel Mae Coble who with a son, First Lieut. Norvin Souder, who is stationed in England, survive.
For 36 years, Mr Souder was a faithful and efficient employee of the Santa Fe railroad, serving in the engineer's office.
The funeral service was in charge of the pastor, Rev. George W. Nelson. Pallbearers were, John Getz, Charles F. Bachmann, John Lander, M. C. Snapp, henry J. Moore and C. E. Rousell. Mr. Souder was entombed in Greenwood Abbey.
