Dotson, Rev. William A

March 17, 1879 Rev. W. A. Dotson, died in this city of congestion of the lungs on the 10th inst., in his 46th year. He was born in Litchfield, Grayson county Kentucky, and entered the Ministry of the M. E. Church in his 23rd year. Though born and raised under southern influence he remained loyal to the church of his early choice, and during the days of the fierce conflict of the rebellion in his native state, stood firmly by the interest of the Union. Some five years since he removed with his family to Colorado, hoping to improve his health, and that also of his family, but failing in this he came to Kansas some two years since, and became a member of the South Kansas Conference. He spent part of one year at Humbolt, and last year was pastor of the M. E. Church in this city. He was a man of more than ordinary pulpit-ability, and his ministrations will not soon be forgotten. He leaves a wife and three children to mourn his loss. The funeral of Rev. Dotson took place at the M. E. Church of this city last Tuesday afternoon, the 11th inst., the remains being escorted from the residence of the deceased to the church and from there to the cemetery, by the Masons of the city, of which order he was a member. The funeral was very largely attended. The church services were conducted by presiding Elder Buckner and Revs. Brooks and Harris, of this city, and J. Kirby, of Wichita.
