Bourne, Charlotte
Evening Kansan Republican
Evening Kansan Republican, Thursday, February 4, 1892
Last Friday night Mrs. Charlotte Bourne, of Pleasant township, who was at the time visiting at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Dr. Nolder of this city, was stricken with paralysis. The case was pronounced a fatal one from the start; death was hourly expected; she lingered until 5 o'clock this morning when the spirit quietly departed from the body. Charlotte Baldy was born in Geneva, New York, Feb. 1, 1824, which made her 68 years old yesterday. She leaves a husband and seven children to mourn her loss. The children are Harry, residing at Sunbury, Pa., J. M., Charles, and S. P., of Pleasant township; Mrs. Dr. Nolder, Mrs. G. W. Young and Mrs. L. G. Harlan, of this city. She with her husband came to Kansas in 1878 and settled on their farm east of the city, where they soon made many friends. She has been a constant member of the Episcopal church for forty-five years, and has been a devout Christian. Her ambition has ever been to educate her children to become useful men and women, and this she has succeeded. She was ever kind and loving mother, and one who could be relied on by her many friends in the hour of need. Her death will be a shock to many families in the eastern part of the county where her name was a watchword in almost every household. The funeral will take place from the residence of Dr. Nolder, No. 111 Main street, at 2 p. m. tomorrow.
