Obituary

Kansan, Tuesday, January 12, 1943

He was the son of Jacob N. and Catherine Lewellen of near Masontown, Penn., and was one of a family of eight children. He was the sixth of the children to pass on.
Mr. Lewellen spent his boyhood in Pennsylvania, moving to Newton with his parents at the age of nine years. He was married to Etta E. Hahn on September 28, 1899 at Newton, Kansas. Mr. Lewellen taught school for several years in Harvey county. he later purchased the Peabody Creamery where he had faithfully worked until the time of his death.
During his long residence in this community Mr. Lewellen gained many friends. The entire community feels the loss of a friend who was always willing to help others at any time. his greatest pleasures were his work and his home, where he was always so happy to have friends and relatives feel at home.
He is survived by his wife and one brother, Clyde of Emporia and one sister, Mrs. Ella Gilchrist of Walton.
