HALSTEAD — Billie Jean Pebley, 85, died on Thursday (Jan. 14, 2010) at Halstead Health and Rehab in Halstead.

She was born on Dec. 6, 1925, in Newton to William and Nettie Evans.

She was a member of the Episcopal Church. She lived in Colorado for 21 years and then returned to Newton, where she worked retail. She always enjoyed anything related to the railroad in Newton. She loved cats, enjoyed dancing and was a collector of many things.

She is survived by sons Jim and Kathye Pebley of Colorado Springs, Colo., Jerry Pebley of Manitou Springs, Colo., Keith Pebley of Sterling, Colo., and George Evans of Alexandria, Va.; daughters Dana Krauser and Patricia Yeager, both of Colorado Springs; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Vernon Gene Pebley; sister, Mary Elizabeth Evans; and brother, Henry Evans.

A graveside service will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Greenwood Cemetery in Newton. Memorial donations may be made to Caring Hands Humane Society of Newton.
