Batdorf, Ludom F.

The Newton Kansan

Kansan, August 5, 1880.


BATDORF---In St. Louis, Missouri, July 30, 1880, of typhoid malarial fever, Ludum F. Batdorf, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Batdorf of Newton, Kansas; aged 21 years, 11 months, and 26 days.

Young Batdorf was known to a goodly number of the older citizens here, and was a young man of good habits and fair prospects in life. He went ot St. Louis a few years ago, where he had been employed in the wholesale millinery store of hes brothers almost ever since. His sickness lasted some two weeks, his father being with him during the latter half of the time. He was a member of the National Guards of St. Louis, two companies of which escorted his remains to the depot at that city, preparatory to their shipment for Newton. They arrived here last Sunday morning, and the funeral was held at the Presbyterian church in the afternoon and was largely attended.
