Bender, Catherine

Nov. 1, 1915. Death summons came to Mrs. Catherine Bender at 5:00 o'clock Saturday afternoon at the family residence at 220 East second street, releasing from her affliction the patient suffer, who had been an invalid for four years. About two weeks ago Mrs. Bender became suddenly worse, being again stricken with a light stroke of paralysis, from which she never fully rallied, the end coming peacefully after an apparent long sleep. Her three children survive her, Mrs. W. G. Shevers, of New York City, Mrs. Frank Jones, Denver and L. J. Bender of Newton. Mrs. Shevers has been with her mother for several months. Mrs. Jones during the last illness, and Mr. Bender has always resided at the parental home. Mrs. Bender was an old resident of Newton and had many warm friends, especially among members of the Methodist church of which she was a member. Her funeral service will be held at the family home Tuesday afternoon at 2:30, conducted by Rev. R. L. George of the Methodist church, and she will be laid to rest by the side of her husband in Greenwood cemetery.The Newton Kansan.
