Kansan, Monday, February 13, 1950


John Wesley Morgan, well known retired laundryman, who had made Newton his home since 1913, died this morning, Feb., 13, at 6:30 at the Bethel hospital where he entered on Kansas Day, in quite serious condition.

Mr. Morgan was born at Westport, Ind., April 15, 1861, and was almost 89 years old. Mrs. Morgan died here August 27, 1932.

Mr. Morgan was an exemplary citizen and a highly respected business man for many years. He was affiliated with the Presbyterian church and belonged to the Modern Woodmen of America. He is survived by his son Earl A. Morgan, who operates the Chief Laundry at Salina, and three grandchildren, Edward, Albert and Kenneth Morgan of Salina.

Funeral services will be held at the Presbyterian church Wednesday, afternoon at 2:30 with his pastor, Dr. George W. Nelson, officiating. Entombment will be in the family crypt in Greenwood abbey.
