Anna Elizabeth Becker Spudig passed away at Bethel hospital Tuesday morning, August 4, at 6:00 o'clock, at the age of 81 years, three months and two days. She was born May 2, 1850 in New Muensterberg, Kreiss Marienburg, West Prussia, Germany. She was baptized and confirmed there in the Lutheran church, and was a faithful member of this church until the time of her death. On the sixth day of April, 1874 she was united in marriage to Mr. Fred Spudig. To this union eight children were born; two sons and six daughters. One son and four daughters have preceded here in death. In 1881 she and her family came to this country, and arrived here on the 26th day of June. She lived in Newton fifty years, and forty-nine years in her home on East Eighth street. She is survived by her husband, Fred Spudig, one son, Fred Spudig Jr., of Ridgway, Colo., and two daughters, Mrs. Mary Hartenberger of Hutchinson, and Mrs. Brant of Salina, Kansas. She also leaves to mourn her death, twenty one grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
