Spudig, Fred W. Jr.

Fred W. Spudig was born at New Stetin, Germany, April 7, 1876 and passed from this life at his home in Ridgway, Colorado, Friday morning, October 21st, having reached the age of 62 years 6 months and 15 days.

When a child of five he came with his parents and settled in Newton, Kansas. When he grew to manhood he became a boilermaker for the Santa Fe. Later he accepted a position at Albuquerque, where he met and married Miss Iona Brown. They later made their home at Gallop, N. M., then at Trinidad, Canon City, Minturn, and finely to Olathe , Colorado, where he took up ranching. From the ranch he returned to the railway shops, locating at Ridgway, Colorado. He was an Elk, an Odd Fellow, a Master Mason and a Woodman of the World. Besides Mrs. Spudig, he is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Fred Brandt, Salina, Kans., and Mrs. Mary Hartenberger, Hutchinson, Kans.

Services at Ridgway, Colorado were held at the community church at 2:30 p. m. October 25th. Funeral services at Newton were held at the Moody-Hinitt Funeral Chapel, Thursday October 27 at 2:00 p. m. with the Rev. S. W. Keller in charge. Services at the grave in Greenwood cemetery were in charge of the local Masonic Lodge, No. 142, whose members acted as pallbearers. Interment was made in the family lot in Greenwood cemetery.
