Helen Gertrude Work, 91, Gueda Springs, died Monday (July 11, 1994) at the arkansas City Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday (July 14, 1994) at the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home, Arkansas City, with Rev. Sterling White officiating. Interment will be in the Work Cemetery.
Mrs. Work was born Nov. 23, 1902, in Valley Center to Japheth and Kizzie Clark Rickman. She was raised in Valley Center and Walton.
She married Garrett Work March 22, 1922, in Peabody. She lived on the family farm near Ashton since 1924. He preceded her in death in 1973. She was a member of the St. James A.M.E. Church.
Survivors include: two sons, Warren Work, St. Louis, and Ervin Work, Gueda Springs; one sister, Pauline Walker, Hutchinson; one brother, Lawrence Rickman, Stockton, Calif.; 13 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sons; Garrett and Virgil Work; one daughter, June Counts; two brothers and one sister.
A memorial has been established with the American Cancer Society. Contributions may be made at the funeral home.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home, Arkansas City.
