Ulysses S. Rickman

U. S. Rickman, 83, pioneer Newton resident, died Wednesday evening at his home, 131 E. 12th.
Mr. Rickman was born Nov. 3, 1872 in Ohio and lived in the Newton community for about 50 years. He was a retired plumber.
He married in Newton in 1904 to the former Margaret Paige.
Mr. Rickman was a member of the C.M.E. Church, Masonic Lodge No. 69 and the Order of Eastern Star.
Survivors include the widow; a stepson, Earl C. Phoenix of Emporia, and a niece, Lucille Coleman of Grand Rapids, Mich.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at Draper's Funeral Home. The Rev. B.T. Whitlow will officiate and burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
