Gasaway, Virginia



Virginia Pearl (Whitehead) Gasaway passed away peacefully on Saturday (Sept. 4, 2010) in Newton.

She was born on July 6, 1914, to John Thomas and Nora Agnus (Barnes) Whitehead near Blackwell, Okla. She was the sixth of eight children. Virginia was married to Daniel Addison Gasaway on June 15, 1936, in Newkirk, Okla. To this union, four children were born.

Survivors are her sister, Edna Green of Blackwell; sons, Glen and wife Brenda of Snohomish Wash., Max and wife Joan of Battlefield, Mo., and Dean and wife Sharon of Newton; and daughter, Joan and husband Chester Young of Branson, Mo.; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and one granddaughter, Kimberly Kay Gasaway Caselman.

Visitation will be at noon, preceding the service at 1 p.m. Thursday at Resthaven Mortuary Chapel in Wichita. In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution to your favorite charity.
