Rapp, Adam
There is no death, the stars go down,
To rise upon some fairer shore,
And bright in heavens jeweled crown,
They shine forever more.

Mr. Adam Rapp was a prayerful person since early childhood, ans openly acknowledged his faith in the Evangelical church. He appeared cheerful until the very last, although he knew and realized that he would not live long; there was no fears for the future, he had settled that with his creator while yet a young man, he was one of the old veterans of company 'B' 52 Reg. Ill. Vol. enlisted Sept. 17, 1861, and was discharged on account of typhoid fever Sept. 24, 1864, reenlisted Feb. 21, 1864 and was honorably discharged at the close of the war. He was married Dec. 5, 1865 to Miss Minerva Hall, after which he became a member of the M. E. Church. Removed to Harvey , Kansas in 1879 where he resided until his death. He leaves a wife and four children to mourn his loss. He was highly esteemed by all who knew him, and the community mourns his loss. His remains were interred in Newton [Greenwood] cemetery. The funeral services were held at the Maple Grove school house and was conducted by Rev. Keopsel.
