Sketch of the Life of Mrs. Adam Rapp, Deceased


The following obituary of Mrs. Adam Rapp, whose death the Kansan made mention0n some time ago, will be of interest to the many friends of the family in Newton and its vicinity.

Miss Minerva Hall was born in Richland county, Ohio, on the 18th day of May, 1846. When ten years of age she removed with her parents t their home in Illinois, where later in life she met her future husband. She was married to Adam Rapp in the year 1865, and they resided near the parents home until 1879 when they moved to Harvey county,Kansas. On coming to Kansas Mr. and Mrs. Rapp settled on the homestead in Macon township, which has ever since been the family home until about six months ago when Mrs. Rapp moved to Hesston.

There were four children in the family, three of whom are living. Eliza J., now Mrs. Will Kelly of Hesston. Hattie E., wife of Dan Demory of Cold Springs, Mo., Robert W. and John M. Mr. Rapp died in 1886 since which time Mrs. Rapp with her sons has resided on the farm and carried on the business connected therewith. Her son Robert died in 1893 which left her but one child to assist her. He however, proved a faithful and industrious son and a few months ago they were able to leave the farm and build themselves a nice home in Hesston. Besides her children, Mrs. Rapp is survived by her aged father, John Hall, who was making his home with her. She also ahas four brothers living, Albert and George hall of Rose Creek, Minnesota, Marion Hall of Austin, Minnesota, and Oscar hall of Tacoma, Washington.
