Obituary

Bessie G. Simms, 92, formerly of 218 E. 12th, a homemaker, died Sunday [May 1, 1988] in Long Beach, Calif., where she had lived for one year.
Services will be at 10 a. m. Saturday at Petersen's Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. R. C. Fowler officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood cemetery.
She was born Dec. 20, 1895 near Walton, the daughter of Silas and Tennessee [Anderson] Frame. On August 18, 1918, she married Luther Simms in Wichita. He died February 1977. She was a member of Hall's Chapel A.M.E., Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 27, Happy Hours E.H.U. charter member and had lived in Newton most of her life before moving to Denver 11 years ago and Long Beach one year ago.
Survivors include four sons, Martin Luther Jr. of Albans, N.Y., Silas A. of San Francisco, Gregory of Trenton. N.J., and John of Wichita; one daughter, Sondra Harris, Denver; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
