Obituary

Edith (Warkentin) Long, 89, went to walk with her Lord and Savior on Saturday (Sept. 11, 2010).

She was born on June 11, 1921, to Dr. Abraham and Elizabeth Warkentin in Wilhelmsdorf, Germany. She had a welcoming smile, quick wit and an enthusiasm for life. She loved her family, God, and animals of all kinds. She looked forward to going home and reuniting with her beloved dogs, Charlie and Tiny.

She is survived by her son, John Long of Napa, Calif.; daughter, Janice Crook of Derby; grandchildren, Ann Williams, Chad Long, Wesley Read, and Julie and Ronnie Jean Long; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Dr. John, Gary and Helmut Warkentin; parents, Abraham and Elizabeth; son, Ronnie; and grandson, Brandon.

A memorial service will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday, September 20, 2010 at Schowalter Villa in Hesston. Chaplain Wendy Miller will officiate.
