Veer, Malinda
Malinda R. Veer, 71, of Newton died Sunday (Jan. 10, 1999) at Newton Medical Center.
She was born May 6, 1927, in Ringwood, Okla., to Ben and Carolyn (Thomas) Smith. On Jan. 18, 1955, she married Ted P. Veer. He survives.
She had retired from family training with the Society of International Ministries. She was a member of Newton Bible Church and Society of International Ministries in Charlotte, N.C.
Other survivors include: five sons, Terry Veer, Kenneth Veer, Gary Veer and Mark Veer, all of Newton, and Philip Veer of Kansas City, Mo.; six brothers, John Smith of Colorado Springs, Colo., LeRoy Smith of Walton, Ben Smith of Newton, Will Smith of Dinuba, Calif., Aaron Smith of Burrton and LaVern Smith of Meade; one sister, Lois Flaming of South Haven, Mich.; and 13 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter; and two brothers, D. Frank Smith and D. Melvin Smith.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Newton Bible Church with the Rev. Donald A. Myer of the church officiating. Burial will be in Restlawn Gardens of Memory in Newton. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday and 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday. Family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home in Newton. Memorials may be made to Newton Bible Church or Ethiopian Evangelistic Fund in care of Broadway Colonial Funeral Home.
