Mrs. Susan Jane Lolmaugh

Mrs. Jacob Lolmaugh who was Miss Susan Jane Bowles, was born in Kentucky in 1824
and died at her home 3 1/2 miles South of Newton on May 25, 1914. Her funeral was held
at the family residence Sunday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock and was attended by a very large
number of friends.
Her childhood days were spent with her parents in Indiana. She was married in 1840 to Jacob
Lolmaugh and in 1879 they came to Kansas and located on a farm 3 1/4 miles South of
Newton which place continued to be her home until her death.
Thirty-one years ago her husband was killed in a runaway accident and since that time on,
Harmon and family have resided at the old home farm and she has made her home with
them. She was the mother of twelve children, seven who survive her. Mrs Angeline Gast
of Fresno, California; Mrs. Caroline Kamp of Last Springs, Wyoming; Andy Lolmaugh of
Baroda, Michigan; Morris Lolmaugh of La Junta, Colo. and Chris and Harmon of the home.
Mrs. Lolmaugh was a very devoted mother. She had a cheerful loveable disposition that
endeared her to friends. She was a ever ready to give assistance to her neighbors and
was esteemed by old and young.
