Lolmaugh, Jacob

Death of Jacob Lolmaugh A dispatch was on Sunday received
by his kindred living at Argos, announcing the death at Newton,
Kansas,on Saturday, February 10, of Jacob Lolmaugh, a former
resident of this section. At the time of his death Mr. Lolmaugh was
about sixty-five years of age.
When but a young man he came to this country, from France with
his parents, and with them settled in Green Township, Marshall
County, about three miles North-West of Argos, on the farm now
occupied by Peter lolmaugh. He was married in 1841to Susan
Bowles, and was the father of twelve children. Three of whom
are dead--two dying here and one in Kansas. The children now
living in this region are Mrs. Caroline Kamp, Mrs. Catharine Richard,
Mrs. Angeline Gast and Mrs. Consta Klingerman.
The remaining children, all boys, are living in Kansas, and two of
them are married. Being troubled with ill health, some three years
ago Mr. L. traded his farm near here, now occupied by Andy Gast,
to one Shirk for land in Arkansas, and moved on to 300 acres of
land already owned by him in Kansas. His health continued bad,
and being and old man, it became evident that his days were
drawing to a close. A short time before his death he visited his
lands in Arkansas, and had about made up his mind to move thither,
when taken down sick. He was hard working man and leaves a
wife and a large family of children to regret his death.
