Obituary

Martha A. Deuser, 77, homemaker, died Monday (March 26, 2001) at her residence. She was born Feb. 12, 1924, to Granuel R. and Christine C. (Ayers) Hairston in Muskogee, Okla. They preceded her in death. She married Howard Russell Deuser Nov. 6, 1945, in Olathe. He preceded her in death Dec. 14, 1993. She had worked for the City of Wichita Police Department and Southwestern Bell. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. She enjoyed gardening, reading and animals, especially dogs. Survivors include: four daughters, Teresa Woods of Enid, Okla., Linda Sparrer and Rebecca Deuser, both of Wichita, and Barbara Morgan of Germantown, Tenn.; a brother, David Hairston of Copan, Okla.; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. She also was preceded in death by a brother, Phillip Ayers Hairston. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Petersen Funeral Home. Recitation of the rosary will be 6 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church with the Rev. Ken Schuckman officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Memorials have been established with the Salvation Army, Catholic Services and Caring Hands Humane Society, all in care of the funeral home.
