Inez Moorshead Geiger

Inez Moorshead Geiger, 88, 1200 E. Seventh, died Monday (July 20, 1998) at Presbyterian Manor.


She was born Sept. 21, 1909, in Newton to Oliver Moorshead and Berta (Hanlin) Moorshead. She married Alfred (Watt) Watson Geiger on Dec. 25, 1933, in Newton. He preceded her in death in 1972.

She was educated at the Bishop's School in La Jolla, Calif., and attended Kansas State University where she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma. Her primary focus was art and sculpture which she studied in Florence, Italy, for three years.

She was active in many aspects of volunteer work, community and church service. Her interest in cooking led her to teaching seminars, classes and a television program.

She enjoyed traveling, visiting Europe, Asia and Australia.

Survivors include two sons, Joseph Geiger of Vero Beach, Fla., and Oliver Geiger of Jackson, Wyo.; and three grandchildren.

There will be private family services. Petersen Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements
