Obituary

Amy L. Regier, 83, a Halstead Hospital nurse’s aide, died Tuesday (Aug. 31, 2010) at Kidron Bethel Healthcare Center in North Newton.

She was born on June 21, 1927, in Beatrice, Neb., to Bernhard Matthies and Margaret (Jantzen) Ensz. A resident of North Newton since 1995, she was a longtime rural Burrton area and Halstead resident, and a member of Burrton Mennonite Church. On Nov. 25, 1955, she married LeRoy M. Regier in Beatrice. He preceded her in death Oct. 4, 1979. Survivors include a son, Larry Regier of North Newton; daughters, Carolyn (Bob Barbour) Regier of Shawnee, Connie (Mike) Kaufman of Moundridge and Debbie (Kim) Claassen of Whitewater; sisters, Edna Goossen and Helen Entz of North Newton; and seven grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Ensz.

Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today at Kaufman Funeral Home in Halstead, with the family present from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Committal services will be at 9:30 a.m. Friday at Halstead Cemetery in Halstead. A memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. at Burrton Mennonite Church in Burrton, with the Rev. James Dunn officiating. Memorials may be given to Burrton Mennonite Church or Kidron Bethel in care of Kaufman Funeral Home in Halstead.
