Obituary

Arturo C. Pineda, 68, died Monday (Aug. 30, 2010) at his Newton residence. He was born on Dec. 7, 1941, in West Brook, Texas, to Manuel and Guadalupe (Caberello) Pineda. On June 5, 1965, he married Senaida Castillo in Batavia, Ill., and she survives of the home. He was a retired construction heavy equipment operator. Arturo is survived by five sons, Andres and Enrique of Newton, Saul of Wolf City, Texas, Juan of Salina, and Arturo Jr., of League City, Texas; one daughter, Angela Haltom of Loraine, Texas; one brother, Louis Pineda of Colorado City, Texas; two sisters, Fransica Ortiz of Colorado City and Consuelo Rios of West Chicago, Ill.; 15 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two stepgrandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Petersen Funeral Home in Newton, with family greeting friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Graveside committal will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Greenwood Cemetery in Newton. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. at the First Church of God in Newton with Pastor Brian Curran presiding. Memorials may be made to the Pineda family in care of Petersen Funeral Home.
