Hall, Ira

The Newton Kansan

Ira R. Hall, 95, died Saturday (Oct. 2, 2010) at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. He was born on Dec. 1, 1914, in Paomia, Colo., to W.E. and Andrea (Frandsen) Hall. He was married to the former Alvina Unruh, and she preceded him in death. He was retired from Cessna Aircraft. Ira had a passion for old airplanes and rebuilt and flew his own planes. He also enjoyed camping and fishing, and he and his wife collected, polished and made jewelry out of rocks they found on their travels. Ira is survived by three stepsons, Marlin Gillmore of Houston, Donald Gillmore of Cheney and Glen Gillmore of Manhattan; and several step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; a brother; a sister; and a stepson, W. Keith Gillmore. A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Petersen Funeral Home chapel in Newton. Inurnment will be at the Grace Hill Cemetery in rural Newton. Memorial contributions may be left with Wichita Presbyterian Manor Good Samaritan Fund in care of Petersen Funeral Home.
