Foth, Ervin
The Newton Kansan
Ervin Foth, 87, of Newton, retired maintenance foreman for Harvey County Highway Department, died Tuesday (Jan. 11, 2000) at Halstead Hospital.
He was born July 27, 1912, near Hillsboro to Henry and Anna (Heir) Foth. He married Laura Peters Nov. 28, 1937, at Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church near Goessel. She survives of Newton. He was raised near Lehigh. He farmed around Hillsboro and worked for Tip Top Dairy in Hillsboro. He moved to Walton in 1949, and to Newton in 1983.
He was a member of Walton Mennonite Church, where he was custodian until closing. He attended Grace Community Church in Newton. He enjoyed woodworking and gardening.
Other survivors include: two sons, Kenneth Foth of Osage City and Edward Foth of Newton; three daughters, Delores Stika of Marion, Lois Prewit of El Dorado and Margie Heidel of Newton; 10 grandchildren; 11 step-grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 19 step-great-grandchildren; and nine step-great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, Marvin Ray Foth; one daughter, Wanda Fern; two brothers, Elmer Foth and Henry Foth; one sister, Anna Witzke; and two grandchildren, Diane K. Heidel and Dennis Ray Stika.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Grace Community Church in Newton with Pastors David Reimer and Steve Friesen officiating. Burial will be in the Walton Cemetery. Friends may call until 9 p.m. today and 9 to 11 a.m. Friday with family greeting friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. today at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home. Memorials have been established with Gideons International or Grace Community Church Building Fund in care of the funeral home.
