Obituary

Josephine M. “Jo” Vaughan, 98, died Tuesday (Feb. 16, 2010) at Kansas Christian Home. She was born Feb. 16, 1912, in Clifton, Ariz., to George S. and Lourdes (Priest) Martin.

On July 16, 1937, she married Jones Stanley Vaughan in Memphis, Tenn. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Newton. Jo was a retired bank bookkeeper and stenographer.

Josephine will be remembered for her love of her family and friends and her many kindnesses extended through the years.

She is survived by her son, J. Stanley (Trish) Vaughan, of Saint Joseph, MO; grandsons, Christopher and Nicholas Vaughan, both of Manhattan; and Granddaughter, Susana Vaughan of Manhattan.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jones Stanley Vaughan; father, George S. Martin; and mother, Lourdes (Priest) Martin.Visitation will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Petersen Funeral Home in Newton.

Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

A funeral service will follow at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, with the Rev. Jim Mainzer officiating.

Burial will be at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Newton.

Memorial funds may be made out to St. Mary’s Catholic Church in care of Petersen Funeral Home.
