Obituary

Janice Marie Nevills passed away on Wednesday (Oct. 6, 2010) after a long battle with cancer.

Janice was born on March 14, 1940, in Stafford, to Ruby and Clarence Witte. She grew up in Sylvia and graduated from Sylvia High School. She attended Hutchinson Community College and graduated from Emporia State University with a degree in education. She taught business practices at Hoisington and Halstead High schools.

On July 10, 1964, she married Thomas Alan Nevills. They were married for almost 45 years before Tom passed away in 2009. Three children were born to the couple, Kyle Dale Nevills, Chad Alan Nevills and Beth Marie Nevills-Fabrick. Later, she worked for the mechanical engineering program at Wichita State University for many years, retiring in 2008.
She was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ and attended Northside Church of Christ in Wichita for the last 17 years. Janice was a wonderful grandmother to her four grandchildren, Parker Clayton Nevills, Hayden Tate Nevills, Lauren Elizabeth Fabrick and Peter Garrett Fabrick. She loved traveling with Tom to see their grandchildren.

Shortly after Tom’s death in 2009, she was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and fought bravely to the end.

Survivors include her children, Kyle and Melanie Nevills of Garden City, Chad Nevills of Conifer, Colo., and Beth and Jeff Fabrick of Maricopa, Ariz.; and grandchildren, Parker and Hayden of Garden City, and Lauren and Peter of Maricopa. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Ruby Witte; brother, Norman Dale Witte; and husband, Thomas Alan Nevills.

A funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Northside Church of Christ in Wichita. Visitation will be at 9:30 a.m. until services begin, at the church.
