Martens, Debra



Debra Kay Martens, 55, of Inman passed away on Wednesday (Nov. 3, 2010) at Promise Regional Medical Center in Hutchinson. She was born on Nov. 13, 1954, in Newton, the daughter of Robert Jean and Rubena Reimer Chase. She worked as a retail marketer for Hallmark for 15 years. She was a member of Hoffnungsau Mennonite Church in rural Inman. On Oct. 25, 1986, she married Orlin Martens in Newton. He survives. Other survivors include a daughter, Abigail K. Martens of Hutchinson; a son, Timothy Dale of the home; a brother, Bill Chase of Newton; three sisters, Roberta Schroeder of Newton, Jolene Reed of Sterling and Carol Hiebert of Newton; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today, with the family greeting friends from 6 to 8 p.m., at Buhler Mortuary in Buhler. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Hoffnungsau Mennonite Church in rural Inman, with Pastor Lee Suderman officiating. Burial will follow in Hoffnungsau Cemetery in rural Inman. Memorials may be sent to Mennonite Central Committee Health Kits in care of Buhler Mortuary, 120 N. Main St., Buhler, KS 67522.
