Obituary

Rubena Chase, 79, died Sunday (Dec. 9, 2001) at her residence in Newton.

She was born Aug. 22, 1922, to William "Will" and Helena "Lena" (Janzen) Reimer in Goessel. They preceded her in death. She married Robert J. Chase Aug. 27, 1948, in Goessel. He preceded her in death July 31, 1995.

She was employed by the former Bethel Deaconess Hospital as a nurse for many years. She also was an accomplished seamstress and an avid reader. She enjoyed traveling. She was a member of First Mennonite Church in Newton.

Survivors include: a son, William Chase of North Newton; four daughters, Carol Hiebert and Roberta Schroeder, both of Newton, Debbie Martens of Inman and Jolene Reed of Sterling; a brother, Ray Reimer of Newton; a sister, Louise Schmidt of Goessel; 13 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today at Petersen Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Petersen Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Verney Unruh officiating. Burial will be in Restlawn Gardens of Memory in Newton. Memorials have been established with Hospice Inc., 313 S. Market, Wichita, KS 67202.
