Obituary

Eunice L. Jones, 85, formerly of McPherson, passed away on Wednesday (Nov. 3, 2010).

She was born on Nov. 10, 1924, in Pender, Neb., to Christina Elston and Elmer A. Slabaugh. Eunice was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, George L. Jones.

She is survived by her son, Robert G. Jones of Pleasanton, Calif.; daughters, Brenda Donald of Hayward, Calif., Linda Heischman and husband Larry of Tracy, Calif., Bonnie Heidebrecht and husband Brent of Austin, Texas; brother, Walter Slabaugh of Vancover, Wash.; sister-in-law, Lois Slabaugh of Newton; seven grandchildren, Bryon McKinney, Brent McKinney, Stefanie Donahue, Sarah Daniels, Andrew Heidebrecht, Tyler Heidebrecht and Allison Heidebrecht; and seven great-grandchildren.

There will be a gathering of remembrance beginning with a short prayer service with Chaplain Peter Hartman of the Hospice Care of Kansas officiating at 6:30 p.m. Friday at Petersen Funeral Home, 215 N. Main St. in Newton. Following the prayer service, the family will be available until 8 p.m. to greet friends and share memories of Eunice.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Halstead Health and Rehabilitation Center in care of Petersen Funeral Home.
