Goerzen, Milton
Milton H. Goerzen, 85, died Thursday (Nov. 4, 2010) at Bethesda Home in Goessel.
He was born on Nov. 13, 1924, in Goessel to Jake J. and Sarah (Schroeder) Goerzen. He married Alice Reimer on Sept. 4, 1946. She survives of the home. Milt was an elevator supervisor for Cargill Inc. for 45 years. He tinkered on repairing lawn mower engines as a hobby in the mid 1950’s. This hobby turned into Milt’s Small Engine Service in the mid 1960’s. He was a member of Tabor Mennonite Church in rural Newton.
Survivors include two sons, Larry Goerzen and wife Dora of rural Newton and Mike Goerzen of rural Newton; two daughters, Jennifer Flaming and husband Royce of rural Newton and Shelley Buller and husband Jon of rural Hillsboro; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Alice Funk; and a brother, Willis Goerzen. He was preceded in death by a brother, Alvin Goerzen; and one daughter-in-law, Tammie Goerzen.
Viewing will be from 1 to 8 p.m. on Sunday at Miller-Ott Funeral Home in Goessel, with family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Burial will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday in Tabor Mennonite Church cemetery, followed by a memorial service at 10:30 a.m. Memorials have been established with Tabor Mennonite Church and Bethesda Home in care of Miller-Ott Funeral Home, Goessel.
