John K. Friesen, 97, 1200 E. 7th, farmer, carpenter, electrician and plumber, died Sunday (Aug. 10, 1997) at Presbyterian Manor of Newton.

He was born July 9, 1900, in Lehigh to John G. and Katherine Janzen Friesen. He married Malinda Base on Aug 15, 1926, in Pawnee Rock. She preceded him in death. He was a member of the Meridian Baptist Church of Newton. He came from Pawnee Rock in April 27, 1978.

Survivors include one son, Homer V. Friesen of Elbing, one daughter, Elinor Hall of Newton; one brother, Albert Friesen of Branson, Mo., one sister, Louise Curry of Andover, 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Meridian Baptist Church with the Rev. Jerroll Martins officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
