Porter, Reba



Reba Lila (Prince) Porter, 78, passed away Thursday (Nov. 11, 2010).

She was born on Nov. 31, 1931, in Texline, Texas, to Clyde and Maggie (Williamson Stewart) Prince. Reba was a former nurse’s aide at Halstead Hospital, 4-H leader, active member of Sedgwick First Baptist Church, fabric store clerk and Eastern Star member, as well as a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

She is survived by her sons, Michael C. (Pam) of Valley Center, Martin (Kathy) of Frisco, Texas, Myron of Sedgwick; daughters, Lila (Robert) Taylor of Kansas City, Kan., and Sharon (Carlos) Lopez of Olathe; brother, Ed Prince of Amarillo; sister, Frances (Charles) Pope of Amarillo; 16 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Carl Porter, daughter Margarete Lu, and brothers Thomas and Donald Stewart.

Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday (Nov. 14) at Baker Funeral Home in Valley Center. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday (Nov. 15) at Calvary Baptist Church, 320 N. Sheridan, Valley Center. Burial will follow the service at Hillside Cemetery in Sedgwick. Memorials may be given to the Gideon’s International and Sedgwick Senior Center.
