Obituary

Wilbur (Bill) Roland Kurr, son of Ira A. Kurr and Gladys Reffner Kurr, passed from his earthly life on Friday (Nov. 12, 2010) at the age of 80.

He was born on Nov. 28, 1929, in Newton. Wilbur attended a country school in rural Newton and graduated from Newton High School in 1947. He married Lois Mae Henry on May 26, 1951. Wilbur and Lois spent almost 60 years building a successful farming and cattle operation in southern Harvey County.

He is survived by his wife, Lois of Sedgwick children, Donna and Rex Fleetwood of Mechanicsburg, Pa., Bob Kurr of Sedgwick, and Darla and Phil Osborn of Wichita; his grandchildren, Rachael and Lauren Osborn of Wichita; his siblings, Doris Zimmerman of Dodge City, Leslie and Ruby Kurr of Newton; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother and sister-in-law, Buford Sr. and Pearl Kurr; his brother-in-law, Ben Zimmerman; and his granddaughter, Katie Osborn.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today (Nov. 16) at the First Baptist Church in Newton. The family will greet friends and family from 12:30 to 2 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall of the Baptist Church prior to the service. Pastor Terry Tariela of the First Baptist Church will officiate.
